SDSU Extension will host a 4-H Shooting Sports Coaches Training for the shotgun discipline on Saturday, June 14, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CDT at the Epiphany Parish Hall (106 Broadway, Canova SD 57321 - located to the south of the church). Please park on the opposite side of the street from the church. The discipline training will take place at the Epiphany Gun Club (107 Broadway, Canova, SD 57321).
All training participants will be required to bring their own eye and ear protection, firearms, and ammunition. Lunch will not be provided.
In the case of a weather-related cancellation, you will be notified through the email you registered with and via text message to the phone number you give.
To become a fully certified Level 1 shotgun coach (all steps are required to be completed, before working with youth in the 4-H Shooting Sports program) in South Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports. Participants will need to accomplish the following:
- Become a registered volunteer with SD 4-H (these steps cannot be completed at this training)
- Fill out a 4-H Volunteer work agreement
- Meet with county 4-H professional for an interview
- Complete a background check
- Pay a $10 fee at the county office

- Enrolling in 4honline as a volunteer
- Required Yearly
- Attend Discipline Training with SS YD (this step will be completed at this training)
