Smallbore Pistol Modified Camp Perry

• NRA Pistol Rules (2023 Edition) with the following modifications:
• For the Bullseye event, the competition consists of 30 record shots on an NRA B-8 target at 25 yards.
  • If shooting an indoor range of 50ft vs 25 yards – Use the NRA B-3 target for all shots (slow, timed, and rapid)    
  • If shooting 25 yards (outdoors) – Use the NRA B-* target for all shots (slow, timed, and rapid)

Course of Fire for Qualifying Matches

Orion users should use the NRA International Pistol: Air Pistol setting when scoring match targets. Air rifle should use National Standard 3-Position Air Rifle Rules setting when scoring match targets. BB gun should use NRA BB gun Rules setting when scoring match targets.

• BB Gun: All divisions shoot from four positions (prone, standing, kneeling, sitting) using a 10-bull target. (AR4/10) Orion targets will be used at State.
• Air Rifle: All divisions shoot from three positions (kneeling, prone, standing) using a 10-bull target. (AR5/10) Orion targets will be used at state. Matches are to be shot in the KPS order and reported in that order. This order is used in tie breakers.
• 22 Rifle: Both divisions shoot a 30-shot (300 point) match from three positions: prone, standing, kneeling (or sitting, by choice for CMP), using the following targets:
  • Indoor 3-P at 50 feet: USAS/NRA 50 or the Orion target TAR0046 (50m rifle reduced for 50 ft.) - 12-bull targets.
  • Outdoor 3-P at 50 yards: A-51 (50 yard reduction of 50 meter small bore) or the Orion target TAR0051 (50m rifle reduced for 50-yard) - 6 bull targets.
  • 3-P: 1 minute per shot prone, 2 minutes per shot standing, and 1.5 minutes per shot kneeling will be allowed.
  • Indoor CMP: RF 50-A (rimfire sporter 50 ft. reduced for prone and sitting/kneeling position) and RF 50-B (rimfire sporter 50 ft. reduced for standing position), slow fire only.
  • Outdoor CMP: CMP B-19 at 50 yards (prone and sitting or kneeling) and 25 yards (standing).
  • CMP (slow fire): 10 shots in a time limit of ten minutes - all positions.
• Air Pistol: Juniors stand, using one or two hands to hold the pistol. Seniors must stand and use one hand to hold the pistol, including during rapid fire. All divisions have five shots per target on four targets or one 4-bull target (maximum score is 200). Orion targets will be used at State.
• 22 Pistol: Holds are the same as Air Pistol (Seniors shoot one-handed, including during Rapid Fire). All Divisions have 10 shots per target on three targets (timed, rapid, bullseye) 30 total scoring shots using a B-8 one-bull target, or the B-3 indoor target (designed for 50 ft. range).
• Archery: All divisions shoot 30 arrows. Beginners shoot from 10 yards, Juniors from 15 yards and Seniors from 20 yards. All archers may shoot from CWS, CWS-R, CWOS, CWOS-R, RWS, RWOS, Open-R or Open. Beginners and Juniors may have a maximum draw weight of 45 pounds. Senior draw weight is 60 pounds. No markings of any kind are allowed in the w/out sight shooting. Open class shooters may use any equipment they desire.
• Shotgun: In Matches, if a perfect (25/25 BEG, 50/50 JR, 75/75 SR) score is achieved, the youth shoots until they miss. The total targets shot without a miss will be reported as the match score and that reported score will be the tiebreaking score.
  • Skeet Match (part of Match 6): All age divisions will shoot a full round (50) for score.
• Muzzleloading: All divisions shoot 10 shots from standing position, using the NMLA 50 yard target.

Awards

First, second, third, fourth and fifth place awards will be awarded as long as the individuals have accumulated a state qualifying score. Team certificates will be awarded with a ratio of one placing for every five teams entered.

State Match Ribbon Requirements

The following charts list the score requirements for each of the shooting disciplines in the South Dakota 4-H program. These will be used to determine ribbon placings at the State Shoot.
