The 4-H Shooting Sports program develops safe shooting habits in youth ages 8-19. Students practice under the guidance of certified instructors and coaches who have received over 15 hours of training in the areas of safety, techniques, coaching and youth development.

4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator Training @ Pierre
SDSU Extension will host a 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator Training on Saturday, June 13, from 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at the SDSU Extension Pierre Regional Center (412 W. Missouri Ave., Pierre, SD 57501).
4-H Outdoor State Archery Tournament
SDSU Extension 4-H will host the 4-H State Outdoor Archery Tournament at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center (800 Archery Lane, Yankton, SD 57078) from May 30-31.

The 4-H Shooting Sports Hall of Fame was started in 2015. It was created to recognize those who played a role in bringing shooting sports to the South Dakota 4-H Program and those who have helped it to grow on the state and regional levels.

South Dakota State University Extension 4-H youth who competed at the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships this year once again scored exceptionally well, including a first-place finish by Caden Chelmo of Brule County and the air pistol team.
