Every year we evaluate the overwintering success of bean leaf beetles in South Dakota. At emergence, the overwintering population of bean leaf beetle adults will move into soybean fields and begin feeding on the seedlings.

Each year we evaluate the overwintering success of bean leaf beetles in South Dakota. For adult bean leaf beetles that successfully overwintered, emergence will begin in the spring and they will move into soybean fields.

Nearly 90% of South Dakota is now in some level of drought. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, 56% of the state is in the Severe Drought (D2) and Extreme Drought (D3) classifications.
