SDSU & NDSU Extension Master Gardener Retreat: Gather, Grow and Give

SDSU Extension and NDSU Extension will host a Master Gardener Retreat from June 26-27, 2025, at McCrory Gardens (631 22nd Ave., Brookings, SD 57006).

This event is only for South Dakota and North Dakota Master Gardeners. This will be a fun way to gather with other Master Gardeners throughout North and South Dakota as well as grow your knowledge and giveto the community through volunteering!

A block of rooms has been reserved at Comfort Suites University (929 25th Avenue. Brookings, SD 57006) under "Master Gardeners." Rooms can be reserved by booking online or by calling 605-937-5867.

Optional Tours

  • 10:00 a.m. - Lang Lab Research Fields (at the SDSU Specialty Crop Research Fields South) with Kristine Lang, Assistant Professor & SDSU Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist
  • 11:15 a.m. - McCrory Gardens with Sydney Trio, Education Coordinator & SDSU Extension Horticulture Assistant
  • 12:15 p.m. - Lunch on your own

  • 1:30 p.m. - Nutritious and Delicious Produce: Vegetable Garden Plants at McCrory Gardens, Sydney Trio, Education Coordinator & SDSU Extension Horticulture Assistant
  • 2:45 p.m. - Designing with Annuals, Esther McGinnis, Director of the NDSU Extension Master Gardener Program and NDSU Extension Horticulturist/Associate Professor
  • 4:00 p.m. - Flower Families, Kristine Lang, Assistant Professor & SDSU Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist
  • 6:00 p.m. - Supper at Good Roots Farm and Gardens

Friday, June 27

  • Breakfast on your own
  • 8:00 a.m. - Volunteer in the Gardens at McCrory Gardens
  • 11:15 a.m. - Lunch
