Stop by the SDSU Extension booth at Dakotafest to meet specialists, ask questions, get recommendations and learn about programming and events. Dakotafest will be held August 18-20 on the Schlaffman Farm (2300 E Spruce Street, Mitchell, SD 57301). Many state and field specialists located across the state will be coming together to one location for three days to provide local guidance and learn about the region’s conditions from you.
Hands-on materials and demonstrations will be available, as well as tables to sit down at and discuss more detailed topics. We are dedicated to listening to your needs and providing science-based, unbiased information that will allow attendees to return home not only with a new contact, but also more knowledge and confidence to move forward with an idea that can be directly applied on the operation.

BQA Training
Robin Salverson, SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist, will provide a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) trining at Dakotafest on August 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Livestock Tent located in the southwest corner. Funded by the Beef Checkoff, the BQA program guides producers toward continuous improvement using science-based production practices that assure cattle well-being, beef quality and safety.
During the event, attendees can become BQA certified or recertify, and certification is valid for three years. By becoming BQA certified, producers can uphold consumer confidence in beef, enhance herd profitability through better management, safeguard the public image of the beef industry and improve the sale of marketed beef cattle.
The BQA training is free and includes training materials. Registration is not required.
