Cover Crop Field Day

Are you interested in learning more about how cover crops can improve soil health? SDSU Extension will host a Cover Crop Field Day at the SDSU Northeast Research Farm on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CDT.

From production considerations to soil health impacts, this field day will offer producers a chance to learn more about using cover crops in various cropping systems, as well as the many benefits they can offer. Attendees will also have a chance to see cover crop impacts firsthand at research plots at the SDSU Northeast Research Farm.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Cover crop species and mixtures
  • Biomass production from different cover crop mixtures and species
  • Benefits to soil health from cover crops
  • Cost share available for planting cover crops
  • Grazing opportunities for cover crops
