shrub with bright yellow leaves

‘Nugget’ is a South Dakota State University release of this popular shrub. This particular cultivar has lovely golden yellow foliage in the spring which fades to a darker green later in the season. Other cultivars can have from dark green to burgundy colored foliage. It will perform best in a full sun location where it can reach up to about six feet in height with about a three-foot spread. Pretty white flowers appear in spring. The bark is attractive and peels slightly providing winter interest. Renewal pruning is the best way to control height, removing about ¼ of the tallest shoots at 2-3” above ground level each year.
