SDSU Extension 33rd Annual Winter Wheat Meeting To Be Held August 24

BROOKINGS, S.D. - SDSU Extension, in collaboration with the Jones County Crop Improvement Association, will host the 33rd Annual Winter Wheat Meeting in Draper, South Dakota, on August 24 at 6:30 p.m. CDT.

A long standing and popular event among winter wheat producers, the meeting has provided wheat producers with the most recent SDSU wheat variety trial results, in addition to other information on winter wheat production in South Dakota.

Speakers at the meeting will include Jonathan Kleinjan, SDSU Extension Agronomist, and Sunish Sehgal, SDSU Winter Wheat Breeder. Kleinjan and Sehgal will discuss the 2022 SDSU Winter Wheat Variety Trial results and other ongoing winter wheat research and breeding efforts.

Additionally, keynote speaker Romulo Lollato, Kansas State University Extension Wheat and Forages Specialist, will discuss his work with Kansas wheat producers to improve winter wheat yields and quality.

The meeting will be held at the Draper city auditorium. Anyone interested in South Dakota wheat production is welcome to attend. Registration is not required and a meal sponsored by local businesses will be served prior to the program.
