SDSU Extension and the SDSU Cottonwood Field Station will host Coffee at Cottonwood on November 6 at 9:00 a.m. at the SDSU Cottonwood Field Station (23738 Fairview Road, Philip, SD 57567). This educational series is designed to bring livestock producers, land managers, industry professionals, and researchers together for practical conversations about livestock and rangeland management in an informal setting. As the name suggests, coffee and Wall donuts will be provided!

Offered every two months, Coffee and Cottonwood will provide an informal opportunity to learn about current research, emerging technologies, and management strategies relevant to livestock production in western South Dakota and the Great Plains. Each program will run 2-3 hours long and will feature a combination of presentations, discussion, and hands-on demonstrations at the Cottonwood Field Station.

This month, attendees will get firsthand experience with virtual fencing technology. Participants will learn how virtual fence systems work, see the equipment in action, collar live animals, play with VF software, and discuss opportunities and considerations for using virtual fencing to manage livestock and grazing.
