SDSU Extension and the SDSU Cottonwood Field Station will host Coffee at Cottonwood on March 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the SDSU Cottonwood Field Station (23738 Fairview Road, Philip, SD 57567). This educational series is designed to bring livestock producers, land managers, industry professionals, and researchers together for practical conversations about livestock and rangeland management in an informal setting. As the name suggests, coffee and Wall donuts will be provided!

Offered every two months, Coffee and Cottonwood will provide an informal opportunity to learn about current research, emerging technologies, and management strategies relevant to livestock production in western South Dakota and the Great Plains. Each program will run 2-3 hours long and will feature a combination of presentations, discussion, and hands-on demonstrations at the Cottonwood Field Station.

This month's conversation will focus on the other AI: artificial intelligence in agriculture. Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of agriculture—but what does it actually mean for farmers and ranchers? This program will introduce practical applications of AI in livestock and rangeland management, including tools for analyzing data, supporting management decisions, and improving efficiency. Participants will also have an opportunity to try AI tools themselves.
