37th Annual Draper Winter Wheat Meeting

SDSU Extension invites area producers and community members to the 37th Annual Winter Wheat Meeting in Draper, South Dakota on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. CDT with a sponsored meal served beforehand.

A long-standing and popular event among winter wheat producers, the meeting provides the most recent SDSU Extension winter wheat variety trial results, as well as other wheat research relevant to South Dakota and the region.

Registration is not required, and anyone interested in wheat production in South Dakota is welcome to attend.

Speakers

  • Sunish Sehgal, SDSU Winter Wheat Breeder, will present findings from the 2026 winter wheat variety trials and share updates on ongoing breeding efforts. 
  • Matthew Elliott, SDSU Associate Professor and Agribusiness Extension Specialist, will discuss current wheat market conditions, price trends, and marketing considerations for producers preparing to sell their 2026 crop.
  • Laura Edwards, SDSU Extension State Climatologist, will provide a climate update and outlook for South Dakota, as well as insights on weather-related impacts to wheat production.
