SDSU Extension will host a StoryWalk during the Fort Thompson Annual Wacipi, August 14-16, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. each day at the Fort Thompson Powwow Grounds.
The StoryWalk will showcase the story Dakhóta Waȟčázi, The Story of the Dakota Sunflower by local author Jean Nahomni Mani. Jean is also the co-chair of the Zaŋi Uŋčhiŋpi wellness coalition, which collaborates with SDSU Extension on community initiatives that support healthy living in the Crow Creek community.
Attendees are invited to walk around the powwow circle, read the story and learn about how the Dakota sunflower came to be!
