Alec Murada understands the unique challenges in tribal communities that affect access to healthy food and physical activity. As the SDSU Extension Family and Community Health Associate serving Crow Creek and Lower Brule, he works with school and community coalitions to identify, develop and implement strategies to make healthy choices accessible for community members. Alec has built trusted partnerships with tribal schools, tribal leadership, after-school programs, food pantries, religious organizations and health providers.

- Supports and coaches community gardens to produce fruit, vegetables and traditional herbs.

- Collaborates with external agencies and offers technical assistance to find project resources.
