BROOKINGS, S.D. – Families seeking educational resources on aging can now benefit from viewing the popular Aging Well series online.
This program, led by South Dakota State University Extension and North Dakota State University Extension, is known for its engaging and informative content. It recently concluded its three-part journey, and recordings are available on the SDSU Extension YouTube channel until June 30, 2025.
Leacey Brown, SDSU Extension Gerontology Field Specialist, said the recordings will only be available for a short period to maintain the Aging Well series’ commitment to delivering timely and relevant information. While they are available, she is pleased to provide access to those who couldn’t attend the live sessions.
“These workshops were very popular, and participants were eager to get the recording to watch again,” Brown said.
Workshop topics include:
- Exercise: This workshop highlights the lifelong importance of exercise, especially for older adults. You'll learn how regular physical activity boosts overall well-being, promotes safety and independence at home, and discover various exercises, their benefits and how to incorporate them into your routine.
- Mental health: This workshop will help you distinguish between dementia and mental health conditions like depression, which often share symptoms and risk misdiagnosis. You'll gain tools to identify these differences, support at-risk loved ones and improve well-being with evidence-based practices.
- Elder law: This workshop will introduce you to key terms and concepts related to elder law, such as power of attorney, wills and trusts. You'll gain valuable information to help you feel prepared when seeking an attorney for these important matters, ensuring you can make choices that align with your needs and priorities.
The Aging Well series is an annual program dedicated to empowering individuals and families with valuable, up-to-date educational resources.
