SDSU Extension to host virtual Annie’s Project event

BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State University Extension is inviting everyone to attend its virtual Annie’s Project workshops in January and February.

Annie’s Project is a national program with the mission to empower women in agriculture to be successful through education, networks and resources.

The webinars are open to everyone, and will start at 6:30 p.m. CST on Jan. 5, 12, 19 and 26 and Feb. 2 and 9, 2026. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. To register, visit the SDSU Extension Events page and search “annie”.

“Annie’s Project is a great program that encourages participants to become more informed about running an agricultural business,” said Leacey Brown, SDSU Extension Gerontology Field Specialist.

Webinar topics will include family communication, making a mission/vision statement, caregiving for rural families, mental health and wellbeing, separating business from personal finance, calculating the cost of feedstuff, agriculture and taxes, marketing basics, estate and transition planning, crop and pasture insurance and livestock risk protection.

Former participants note the sessions hands-on sessions are practical and relevant, helping them improve and advance their own operations.

“My husband and I put a business plan together to buy more cows and took it to the banker. The banker felt it was very well put together and said to move forward,” one participant wrote.
