BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State University Extension is pleased to announce that the Heirlooms: Wisdom Writing Workshop is now available through a virtual platform for the first time.
This online edition of the popular workshop brings the transformative experience of wisdom writing directly to your home, making it easier than ever to reflect, connect and grow. By embracing this new format, SDSU Extension continues its commitment to expanding access to lifelong learning opportunities.
It will be on Sept 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. MT/10 a.m. to noon CDT via Zoom. This free two-hour session is designed to spark creativity, connection and confidence as participants honor their lived experiences and deepen their sense of purpose. For more information and to register, visit the SDSU Extension Events page and search for “wisdom writing”.
The Heirlooms: Wisdom Writing Workshop invites participants to explore the rich perspectives they’ve gained with age and express those insights through personal storytelling and reflective writing. Guided by Leacey Brown, SDSU Extension Gerontology Field Specialist, and Molly Barari, South Dakota Humanities Scholar and writing instructor, the workshop blends engaging education with creative practice in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Attendees will explore meaningful questions about aging, identity and personal growth while exploring how writing can be a powerful tool for coping with life’s challenges and celebrating its triumphs.
“By offering the workshop online, we’re expanding access to people who may not have been able to attend an in-person event,” says Brown. “It’s an exciting next step in the life of this program.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to join a community of storytellers, thinkers and lifelong learners as we celebrate the wisdom that comes with age.
