Cattle feeding is an important part of agriculture in South Dakota and the surrounding region, and the Siouxland Feedlot Forum is designed to provide information tailored to regional producers. The day’s first speaker will be Zach Smith, an associate professor of feedlot nutrition and management at SDSU, on implanted cattle performance before and after a label change by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The day will also include presentations by Galen Erickson, from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, on managing cattle on roller-compacted concrete; John Schroeder, of Darr Feeders, about managing labor; and a panel by Schroeder and Tommy Winders, of Zinpro, on labor and management transition issues.
“Our panel of experts will provide timely information for the audience to apply the latest ideas and technology to better manage their livestock, facilities and labor," said Alfredo DiCostanzo, UNL Beef Systems Extension Educator.
