SDSU Extension will host a Native Seed Cleaning Workshop on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at McCrory Gardens (631 22nd Ave, Brookings, SD 57007).

Learn how to properly collect, clean, and store seeds from species native to South Dakota. Participants will have the opportunity to clean a variety of native seeds.

Registration

This workshop is free to attend. Registration is required using the blue register button above. Participants must be at least 12 years old. Please bring a pair of gloves for handling seed.

Native Plant Photo Contest

The SDSU Native Plant Initiative is hosting a Native Plant Photo Contest from October 9 through November 8.

Once considered roadside weeds, native asters make a fine addition to gardens and prairies. With thoughtful selection, gardeners can have asters blooming from late summer through late fall, providing essential forage for pollinators.
