SDSU Extension will host an informational virtual meeting on April 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. CDT/11:00 a.m. MT for the South Dakota Active Transportation Network.
Many South Dakotans live in communities where walking, biking, and other active modes of travel feel unsafe, inconvenient, or disconnected. Limited infrastructure, uneven awareness, and a lack of coordinated efforts make it difficult for communities to create the healthy, vibrant, and connected environments their residents deserve.
To help change that, South Dakota State University Extension and partners from across the state are launching the South Dakota Active Transportation Network (SDATN), a new statewide collaborative focused on improving access to safe, accessible, and equitable active transportation options.
The purpose of SDATN is to unite and equip partners statewide to:
- Coordinate efforts and share knowledge
- Support communities in expanding safe walking, biking, and rolling options
- Foster healthier people and more connected futures across rural, tribal, and urban communities
During this meeting, we’ll:
- Introduce the SDATN vision and mission
- Share the draft goals and action areas
- Gather input on priorities, gaps, and opportunities from partners like you
