SDSU Extension will host a 4-H Shooting Sports Coaches Training for the shotgun and muzzleloader disciplines on October 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Gun Club (3400 West Havens Ave., Mitchell, SD 57301).
Agenda
- 8:00 a.m. – Registration
- 8:30 a.m. – Shotgun and muzzleloader training
- 12:30 p.m. – Lunch break (lunch will be provided)
- 1:00 p.m. – Shotgun and muzzleloader training
Requirements and Reminders
- The training course will cover the core requirements needed to become a certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructor. This serves as level 1 training for the shotgun and muzzleloader disciplines. No prior experience in shooting sports is necessary.
- All shooting sport coaches are also required to complete Youth Development Training (only needed once). If you have not completed Youth Development training, visit the 4H Event Deadlines page for training opportunities.
- All training participants will be required to bring their own eye and ear protection.
- Before you complete this training, all participants must be certified 4-H volunteers. For more information on becoming a volunteer, visit the 4-H Volunteers page.
Registration
The cost to attend is $50. Use the form below to register by September 30. You can complete only one discipline per training.
