Although soybean gall midge adults have been captured earlier this spring in neighboring states (Minnesota and Nebraska), the first adults were captured in South Dakota on June 17. So far, our captures are low with one adult at two locations near Burbank and Meckling. We will continue to monitor our network of emergence cages. If you are interested in having emergence cages present in your field, please contact Adam Varenhorst. To get additional information on soybean gall midge or to follow the emergence network updates, please visit the Soybean Gall Midge Alert Network website.

To receive notifications of first emergence reports, please complete Soybean Gall Midge Alert Network Notification Form and provide the necessary contact information on the form. You will receive a phone call, text message and email when adults are detected.
