Winter Wheat Disease Update: Leaf Diseases and FHB on the Increase
Winter wheat fields scouted last week show an increase in fungal leaf diseases and bacterial leaf streak. Among the fungal diseases, the most common leaf diseases are tan spot, Stagonospora leaf blotch, and stripe rust. The risk for Fusarium head blight has also started to increase in a number of areas in the state.
SDSU Extension to host virtual training series on vegetable production

The second annual South Dakota Virtual Vegetable Short Course topics will include cover crop integration, soil health improvement, weed management and integrated pest management for field and high tunnel production. The four-part educational series will take place via Zoom from 6 to 7:30 p.m. MT/7 to 8:30 p.m. CST on Jan. 22, 24, 29 and 31, 2024.

SDSU Extension 4-H donates 894 care kits to people in need

For the project, members collected personal hygiene items and packaged them into Clover Care Kits. The kits contained hygiene items like a bath towel, washcloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo/conditioner, soap and deodorant. 4-H members and their families donated 894 kits to organizations that serve people in need across the state.
