Register now for 2025 Swine Day with SDSU Extension

BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State University Extension invites swine producers and industry members to attend SDSU Swine Day on Nov. 4, 2025, in Brookings.

The day lasts from 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m. at Club 71 inside Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on SDSU’s campus, and will include a student poster competition, expert presentations, panel discussion and a keynote speech by Glenn Muller, executive director for the South Dakota Pork Producers Council.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. It is free to attend, but registration is requested. To register, visit the SDSU Extension Events page and search “swine”.

Other speeches throughout the day will include John Jaeger, Calvin and Mary Hayenga Endowed Department Head and professor of Animal Science, followed by an industry update from Matt Erickson with Farm Credit Services.

Crystal Levesque, SDSU associate professor of swine nutrition, and Eric Weaver, assistant professor, will offer an update on SDSU’s ongoing swine research. After lunch, Bob Thaler, Farm Credit Services of America Endowed Chair in Swine Production, distinguished professor and SDSU Extension Swine Specialist, will provide an update on SDSU swine research and Extension.

David Newman, CEO of the National Pork Board, will provide the final speech for the afternoon, followed by an undergraduate panel discussion about internships in the swine industry.
