Worksite Wellbeing Coaching

Worksite Wellbeing Coaching, specifically designed for small and mid-sized businesses in South Dakota, is led by SDSU Extension specialists with expertise in worksite health, behavior change, and organizational planning.

The Worksite Coaches assist organizations in building effective worksite wellbeing systems through a 5-step process of 1) getting started, 2)  assessments, 3) action planning, 4) implementation and 5) evaluating and sustaining.

Organizations receive practical tools, hands-on coaching, and customized support to create wellbeing programs that fit their workforce’s unique needs and can be sustained long term.

What You Will Learn

Through guided sessions over the course of around 12 months, worksite partners and Worksite Coaches work together to build practical skills, strengthen workplace culture, and shape wellness policies and activities that reflect employee needs.

  1. Getting Started - Worksites lay the foundation for their wellbeing program by securing leadership support, forming an engaged wellness committee, and informing employees about the upcoming initiative.
  2. Assessments - Worksites gather baseline information through organizational assessments, employee wellbeing surveys, and optional productivity or cost-related data to understand current conditions and needs.
  3. Action Planning - Assessment findings are summarized and reviewed with the wellbeing committee. The committee then identifies priority improvement areas and develops an action plan using evidence-based strategies.
  4. Implementation - Worksites put the action plan into practice by launching activities, communicating with employees, promoting participation, and integrating strategies into the workplace culture.
  5. Evaluating and Sustaining - Worksites review key data, determine meaningful measures for tracking progress, and establish systems to sustain wellbeing efforts while using feedback to continuously improve the program.
