The purpose of this fact sheet is to provide an overview of the South Dakota (SD) Rangeland and Soils Days program. Rangeland and Soils Days is hosted by a local conservation district (CD), with support from the South Dakota Society for Range Management (SD SRM), SDSU Extension, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Soil compaction can degrade soil health and lead to reduced crop yields. Learn some production practices that can implemented during harvest to avoid soil compaction.
The benefits of prairie wetlands extend far beyond wildlife. These wetlands filter pollutants and excess nutrients from agricultural and urban runoff, trap sediment, recharge groundwater, and store floodwater.

In May, South Dakota sent 84 youth to the National Land and Range Judging Contest in El Reno, Oklahoma. Out of the 34 states that competed, only Texas came close to matching those numbers with 72 participants.
