SDSU Extension, McCrory Gardens to host 7th annual Insect Festival

The seventh annual Insect Festival is from 1 to 4 p.m. CDT on Sept. 7, 2024, at McCrory Gardens in Brookings. There will be garden tours, interactive insect education, an insect costume parade, crafts and edible insects.

Six youths in the shooting sports program will receive scholarships funded through entrance fees paid at the shooting sports state match. A committee of volunteers reviews the applicants and selects the top candidates.

SDSU Extension 4-H awards 2024 scholarships

Fourteen youth from across the state were selected to receive these awards. Youth with at least five years of active membership in 4-H, current high school seniors, or those enrolled at SDSU are eligible to apply for the scholarships. These scholarships are funded through donors and SDSU Extension’s 4-H program.

South Dakota State University Extension is hosting a sheep ultrasound certification school from 8 a.m. Aug. 24 to noon Aug. 26, 2024, at the SDSU Sheep Research and Teaching Unit, located 1.5 miles north of the SDSU campus.
