One of the last projects I was involved with as coordinator for the Lower James River Watershed Project was the installation of a deep pit monoslope barn for a feedlot operation near Alexandria, SD. A deep pit confinement barn is a manure storage system that employs slatted flooring with pit manure storage underneath.
4-H members have the opportunity to showcase their horse project work at the annual South Dakota State 4-H Horse Show.
South Dakota 4-H dog project members exhibit their accomplishments during the State Dog Show, held annually in Huron, SD.
4-H youth are given the opportunity to develop critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills through the livestock judging project.
