There are now three SDSU Extension podcasts: “Streamlines,” a deep dive into water management and its effects on South Dakota agriculture; “CattleHQ,” for cow/calf producers; and “Home Starts Here,” a showcase of South Dakotans at work in their home communities.

Started in 2016, the Mid-Missouri River Prescribed Burn Association is a landowner-led effort to combat the spread of trees along the Missouri River corridor in Gregory, Charles Mix, Brule and Lyman counties.

SDSU Extension receives $1 million contribution agreement from NRCS to protect grasslands from invasive trees

Trees are taking over the grasslands in the Northern Plains. To meet that threat, SDSU Extension recently received a $1 million contribution agreement from the Natural Resources Conservation Service to combat the spread.

Jeff Martin has been named the SDSU Extension Bison Specialist and the Assistant Professor of Bison Biology and Management in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Martin’s role is 70 percent research and 30 percent Extension, and he will continue to be based at West River Research and Extension center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
