Sign Up for SDSU Extension Walk With Ease Walking Program

BROOKINGS, S.D. - SDSU Extension is excited to offer their first Walk With Ease walking program January 28 - March 8, 2019 in Brookings at the First Lutheran Church (337 8th Street).

Walk With Ease participants will meet each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. (CST).

Sessions include a brief education discussion, warm-up and cool-down exercises, and a 10 to 35-minute walk at participants’ own pace.

“Participants can also do the activities and exercises on their own using the class materials,” Prosch said.

If a participant uses a device, like a cane or a walker to help them get around, they can still participate in the program. Walk With Ease is certified by the Arthritis Foundation and doctor recommended.

“The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Program is an exercise program that can reduce pain and improve overall health,” Prosch said. “If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, you can have success with Walk With Ease.”

Walk With Ease is designed to help motivate participants to:

  • Get active and get in great shape
  • Walk safely and comfortably
  • Improve your flexibility, strength and stamina
  • Reduce pain and feel great

SDSU Extension is excited to be partnering with the Osteoarthritis Action Alliance to offer and expand this program in South Dakota. Through this partnership, SDSU Extension will support training leaders and implementing the program across the state.
