SDSU Cottonwood Field Station Grand Reopening

The grand reopening of the SDSU Cottonwood Field Station will take place on September 25 from 8:45-11:30 a.m. MT at the Cottonwood Field Station (23738 Fairview Road, Philip, SD 57567).

Come tour the newly completed updates to the Cottonwood Field Station’s research facilities, featuring new facilities
including a multipurpose building with meeting spaces and livestock
handling equipment, and a state-of-the-art monoslope feedlot. As the morning sessions wrap up, all attendees will receive SDSU ice cream.

This event is free to attend and open to the public.

Northeast Research Farm Tour

Attend the annual Northeast Research Farm Tour on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. CDT to dusk at the Northeast Research Farm (15710 455th Ave. South Shore, SD 57263). The farm is located on the junction of State Highway 20 and Codington County Highway 11, or 2.5 miles west of Exit 193 on I-29.

SDSU Extension, the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station at SDSU and the Southeast South Dakota Experiment Farm Corporation will host the Southeast Research Farm fall field day on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT.

Cover crops grow throughout a no-till crop field.
