SDSU Extension will be hosting an online training for new instructors for the Fit & Strong! program on January 19 and 20.
The first component of the training will be done in a self-study approach taking about 5 hours on January 19 and the second part of the training will be done via zoom on January 20. No travel is required to be trained.
Fit & Strong! is an evidence-based physical activity program developed by researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This 8 or 12 week program targets adults with osteoarthritis and has demonstrated significant functional and physical activity improvements in this population.
After Training, Instructors Will:
- Be leading 1-2 workshops each year
- Follow fidelity of the program and guidance from SDSU Extension
- Work directly with SDSU Extension to ensure all equipment and program materials are in place prior to program implementation
To sign up for the training or to find out more about the instructor training, contact Nikki Prosch, SDSU Extension Health & Physical Activity Specialist or Hope Kleine, SDSU Extension Health & Education Food Safety Field Specialist.
