South Dakota State University Extension will be offering a virtual BeefUp course on Feb. 1, 2022 for beef producers to take at their own pace.
Topics will include a systems approach to calving distribution covering the production cycle of the cow from:
- late gestation
- calving to breeding
- breeding to weaning (late lactation)
- weaning to late gestation (dry cow phase)
Content will discuss drivers that have historically affected sale barn premiums based on calf uniformity, as well as provide a research update of current factors impacting calf prices across South Dakota sale barns.
