South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension will be hosting a mental health first aid training course on August 4 from 8:30 a.m. CST - 5 p.m. CST at the De Smet Event & Wellness Center (705 Wilder Ln SW, De Smet, SD 57231).
This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and connect them to appropriate care.
The training will provide an overview of the prevalence & impact of mental health problems in the US, introduce MHFA plan (ALGEE) and interventions, an overview of the signs, symptoms, risk factors, and warning signs of someone who is experiencing a crisis.
