2020 January Cattle Artificial Insemination (AI) School

Sunday, January 19 - Tuesday, January 21

SDSU Extension will be hosting an AI school on Jan 19, 20 and 21 at 12:30 PM CDT at the SDSU Beef Unit in Brookings.

What will participants learn:

  • Bovine Anatomy & Physiology
  • AI Equipment & Technique
  • Proper Semen Handling & Fertility
  • Estrous Synchronization & Detecting Standing Heat
  • Nutrition
  • Management & Reproduction Interactions
  • EPD’s & Genetic Selection
  • Over 5 hours to practice AI

Schedule

January 19 (Day 1)

  • 12:30 PM Register
  • Afternoon: Classroom instruction
  • Evening: Hands on semen handling and practice AI technique

January 20 (Day 2)

  • Morning: Practice AI Session
  • Afternoon: Classroom instruction

January 21 (Day 3)

  • Morning: Practice AI Session
  • Afternoon: Classroom instruction, conclude approximately 3:00 PM
