SDSU Extension will be hosting a BQA certification course on Nov. 21 at 2 PM CDT at the Mitchell Technical Institute, Technology Center Amphitheater (1800 E Spruce St, Mitchell, SD 57301).
Beef processors require producers to be Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified before they will purchase their cattle. This expectation has been in place for the major beef packers since Jan. 1, 2019. Auction barns may ask sellers to provide their BQA certification with cattle, so buyers are aware of it during the sale. Many buyers may not bid on cattle that do not come from BQA certified producers.
Please register by November 21, cost is $25 per person. For more information contact Heidi Carroll, SDSU Extension Livestock Stewardship Field Specialist & SD BQA Coordinator at 605.688.6623 or by email.
