AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program in which AmeriCorps VISTA members commit to a full-time one-year term of service to help fight poverty across the nation. President Johnson started the VISTA program in 1964 and in 1993 VISTA joined the AmeriCorps network of programs. The AmeriCorps VISTA program has been combating poverty across the nation for over 50 years.
